New To Mac Need To Transfer files From Pc

Hello everyone I am a brand new mac user and New to these forums. I have the new 27 inch I-mac and im trying to get all of my files (pics, documents, music, movies) from my old laptop onto this mac. Should i just burn the info on to discs to transfer it, or is there an easier way? Any help or info. is greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

External hard drive might be easier or a flash drive.

When I made the PC to Mac switch, I just put the files on a flash drive and transferred them that way- quick and easy.

Did you purchase the One to One plan for $99? It's GREAT for new MAC users and includes a free data transfer...just bring your PC to your local Apple Store and they transfer all your data to your new Mac.
