New to macs, info on macbook pro 8 please

Hello, im very new to Macs and just wondering if around £400 is too expensive for macbook pro 8, i5 2415m?

Also can someone tell me the main features that new or last year models have over the pro 8 models and will it also run the last operating system?

Any help would be great. Thanks

I'm guessing it's a 2011 model based on the CPU:

It should have no issues running most things. If it only has 4GB RAM or a non-SSD then you might see some performance related issues if you are really pushing the machine, but it's not bad for £400 as long as it's in good condition.

It will have a non-retina display which is the most significant difference between modern MacBook Pro's & of course more than likely a mechanical hard drive rather than a fast PCIe SSD. But it is only £400, so it's worth a gamble.

probably the 8,1 2011 macbook pros is what he means my old 2012 with a standard drive was great until an unfortunate incident killed it now i just got my 09 13 inch and in the 20 minutes iv used it its great and i payed a similar amount $350 on eBay so yeah your getting a killer deal

You DO realize £400 is roughly equal to $580? I don't think $580 for a 2011 model is a "killer" deal. More like a "well, okay" deal.
