So, I just bought my brother-in-laws 2011 13" MBP (8GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive, etc etc etc for 350...good deal, right?). I would like to try and make this a brand new-ish computer and get rid of his settings and whatnot. HOWEVER, he had some (like, 2) applications/programs on it I want to keep. So, how do I basically wipe this machine and start over, but keep the apps/programs (MS Office and iExplore).

Thanks!!

I put the question in this forum because I have upgraded the OS to Mavericks. I thought doing that and making a new user account might do it, but some of the stuff from before remains.

Is there any way you can get the Key for Office and just install it again after you re-install? Don't know about iExplore, no clue what it is.

Creating a new user account should allow you to keep Office.
Just create a new user, log in and verify that everything is there and working before you do anything harsh.

But the $350 part... Good deal.
