New to me late 2011 MacBook Pro ram limit

from what I've seen the MacBook Pro that I have is top Out at 8 gb of ram. I'm. Wanted to upgrade it. To two 8 go chips will this work?

My daughter has a 2012 13 inch pro and it has 16 (2 x 8) in it. Apple says 8 for hers, but it will support and run 16.

The 15" 2011's will allow 16gb RAM. I had one and maxed it out. No problems (with the ram).

16GB will work if used with 2 8GB modules.
You can even install up to 2133Mhz ddr3l RAM and the system will utilize the 2133Mhz.

I believe both the 13" and 15" 2011 MBPs will accept 16 gb of ram.

I wish you best of luck with your 2011 MacBook Pro. Are you aware of the gpu issues on that particular model. I'm dealing with it right now.
Also 16 gb ram is podsible

Apple says it only supports 8GB, but they utilize 16GB just fine.
