New to preordering

Hi so this will be the first time I preordered an iPhone and I just want to make sure I got this right. So I have the 6 on AT&T and still on contract. So I select the phone under AT&T and "pay in full" and when I get the phone in the mail I can just pop the sim from my 6 straight into the 6s and use the new phone no problem?

You could also just turn on your new phone and it will activate that sim while deactivating the sim in your current phone.
