I noticed this the other day and never have seen it before. The word "Extended" on my iPhone... What's it mean?

Sprint includes free roaming on other carriers, such as Verizon

Ah, that's what I thought it meant, but the word Extended had me puzzled. I've seen the word Roaming on phones way back in the day, though.

It's not free. Or atleast, only up to a point. Off network you start using your minutes, it's no longer unlimited even if you're calling mobile to mobile. You're limited to 300Mb/mo data roaming as well. If a vast majority of your total usage comes from roaming areas consistently, you will be advised to reduce your usage or find wireless service somewhere else.

Interesting....I saw this on my Sprint 4s today and I'm in downtown Chicago. Definately should NOT be roaming....

I'm sure it has to do with marketing. "Roaming" became a bad word in the wireless industry and insists paying extra.
