For those that are on the iPad forum, this will be a rehash of my latest thoughts on adding MacOS to my repertoire, so if you don't want to be bored here too, just mosey on over to another post!
For the three folks still hanging on, here we go -- A bit of background. As is the case with many folks, I've been using Windows since the 90s and was content and half-way competent with that OS. Somewhat reluctantly, I started getting into the Apple stuff; first with various iPods back in the day, then an iTouch and iPhone, a couple iterations of the Watch, a few iPads, and so on and so on. Today, I have an iPhone X, a S3 Watch, and an iPad Pro 12.9" - and various accessories. As I started using the iPad for more than just web surfing and watching Netflix, I really started to appreciate how everything just worked together. If a phone call came in, I could take it on the iPad. Calendars synced across all devices. Messages propagated to my phone, watch, and iPad - pretty convenient, eh?
This got me to thinking about adding a full-MacOS device of some kind. Initially, I thought a new MacBook Air would be a good entry into MacOS, but the price tag and the somewhat anemic specs (at least as far as the base model is concerned) didn't totally excite me. Plus, with the iPad, I really didn't need a mobile device. I was content in being MacOS-less for the time being and would just continue to enjoy the iPad experience. However, someone mentioned that perhaps a Mac Mini might fit that gap well without as much of an impact to my wallet. Well, crap, I didn't think of that!
Fast forward a few hours later and I'm on a chat session with Best Buy getting a price match from B&H photo. Then, fast forward an hour or so after that, and I'm setting up my new Mac Mini. I already had an external monitor and a Magic Keyboard. I picked up a Magic Trackpad when I picked up the Mini and now I'm all set up - enjoying the learning curve of MacOS. So far, it seems pretty intuitive and I'm amazed at the integration with my other iDevices - really cool.
I'm looking forward to learning from the collective group and will try not to bombard everyone with noob questions about MacOS!
