New to the Mac world

I have just got a new late 2011 macbook pro my first mac after more than 10 years of dos and windows.
Q1 with the mbp you get no rest all disk do i have to / or can i burn a copy of the os to DVD.
Q2 i have my code to download mountain lion can i make a bootable copy of the down on to disk??

yes you can make a bootable usb drive or disc for mountain lion super easy and there are a ton of youtube videos showing how.
