i use to download movies and music on my old computer a couple of years ago and it was so simple, but now i dont even know where to start.
- first for music, what websites are the best to use? do i only get to download albums or can i download one song at a time? also what file for music to i download?
-second for movies, What websites are the best for them? and what kind should i be downloading. should i only be getting avi's or what?
To me i have been searching the web and asking friends that do own macs but when i try it on my own i get totally confused. If anyone could help, i would be super stoked

It is the same for Mac OS X as in Windows. Pirating media is not that different anyway.
But
Warez/Serials/Keys.

You can use iTunes to buy and download music. Either full albums or 1 at a time. You can also download music from Amazon.

Again, iTunes and Amazon. Also try Netflix for a decent selection of streaming movies.
