I just bought it today, but the cache (3MB not 6MB of the older 2.66) really blew me off

I don't use this for mocking about, I'm graduating very soon and I need a machine that can actually handle some serious tasks

My applications are:-

Adobe CS suite. (MANY images open)
Pro/E (on boot camp)

I very rarely do Audio/Video Work, where the cache seems to be the biggest concern. But I'm still not happy that it has less cache(3MB) than my iMac C2D that I bought almost 3 years ago.

Problem is that I can't do student discount in UK, so it's still cheaper for me to get the new 2.66Ghz than the older 2.66, not to mention there's free printer and iPod deal.
