Hey guys,
I just bought a friends Apple Watch series 4 and have done a factory reset on it.

It’s a gift for my girlfriend and so I wanted to update it to OS6 before handing it over. If I update it on my phone and then do a factory reset will it stay on that firmware?

It was taking FOREVER earlier on, it kept saying 8 hours then about 1.5 hours in it said 3 hours and I’ve had to give up and do something else.

Any light you can shed would be great, I’m not sure I can do it on her phone without her noticing soooo...

thanks

I now realise there was a 6.1.1 release today which is maybe why the download speed slowed down to 8 hours or so

if you have your watch directly on wifi it seems to be faster

you must turn off bluetooth on your phone it the settings app, doing it from control center doesn't really turn it off.

I've had good luck getting the upgrade started, then turning off bluetooth, it takes a few seconds for it to re-start the download, but then it typically goes pretty fast.

Even though the watch isn’t connected to WiFi as it’s still in setup mode?
