Hi, yesturday I was given an old G4 "ilamp" it is in running order but has a few things I would like to change

remove a german ver. of office.
when I do an update I get "An error occurred while checking for updates. Anetwork error has occurred: timed out (-1001)." it is connected to the network.
Safari crashes after about 2 mins.

It is running OSX 10.3.9

I's suggest doing a fresh install of Tiger is you have the original DVD and other software on DVD or external HDD.

If you just got it can we assume you don't have any of you own files on there yet?

i got no disks with it. would i be able to buy it?

Apple will sell you original restore disks. They're about $20 USD, I think.
