New Verizon contract phone swap?

I did some searching but couldn't see anyone asking this so I'll go ahead. A friend of mine is looking to switch to Verizon, and I'm currently on Verizon but don't get to upgrade until April. Would I be able to start their contract for them and pay $199 for an iPhone 4S, then trade phones with them and use that phone on my contract while they'd use my phone with their new contract?

Thanks for any help anyone with experience in these sort of things might be able to provide. I'm on Android right now and have been ready to switch back to iOS for a while. :)

Your account is tied to a line not a phone. You are free to change phones with whomever, whenever you want.
 
Thanks for the help! I'm looking forward to getting back all of those apps I bought on my 3GS that I don't get to use anymore. :)
