Did anyone else notice this from Apple's Mac Pro "performance" page? It says they did the tests in July using a Beta version of Final Cut Pro. Perhaps the next version of the product? Maybe a 64bit version?

"Testing conducted by Apple in July 2006 using preproduction Mac Pro units and shipping Power Mac G5 Quad units. Mac Pro testing conducted with a beta version of Final Cut Pro."

[edit] added the quote about a beta version of Logic Pro.

A point release usually means FCP will get some new features, most likely extended support for P2 and HDV improvements with some of the newer Canon HDV camcorders, like the A1/G1 and the HV10.

Could be that often rumoured high end verson Final Cut Extreme.

Odds are that it was a custom compiled version to work with microcode enhancements for the Woodcrest processors to specifically make it appear faster on the Mac Pro compared to the standard version for the Quad.
