I had X11 installed on Snow Leopard and upgraded to Lion through the Mac App Store upgrade, but I remember with Snow Leopard I had to install X11 separately. Is there a new version of X11 for Lion that supports Full-Screen mode or any other features better? If so, how do I get it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Full screen mode available in preferences. Turned off by default.

So, my version of X11 (originally installed from Snow Leopard) shows XQuartz 2.6.3. Is this the version you have? If so, then I see nothing in the preferences for allowing an X-Window to go full screen. It does show "Copyright 2003-2011 Apple, Inc." which would indicate it is newer than the Snow Leopard disk I pulled it from (installed in 2009).

My guess is that given the copyright change that the Lion upgrade updated my XQuartz.

X11 Full-screen mode is set under X11 Preferences, Output.
XQuartz 2.6.3 is current version.

When you say "X11 Preferences", do you mean the hidden files in my home directory, stuff in the /etc/X11 directory or are you talking about something else?

I found the option you were talking about, but its not quite what I was looking for. I was looking for an option to make an individual window in X11 act like a "full screen" app in Lion. The option you refer to creates an "X11 root window" which is full screen. Incidentally, panning between spaces makes the X11 switch out of full screen mode. So apparently we need Apple to give us a new version of X11 before we will see better X11 full screen support -- I don't think X11 is Apple's focus for UI though.
