Hey all,

A few days ago, I got a Radeon x800 card for my G5 PowerMac (dual 2.5). Several times this weekend, the Mac would lockup and require a power off/on. To be more detailed, here is what I did and what happens...

I powered off, took old card out (9600), put new one in (x800), powered on. Once powered on, went to ATI site and obtained latest ROM update. Booted in safe mode and installed ROM update.

What happens is this.. I'll move the mouse around (or press a key) to wake up. The screen will come on and I'll see the screen saver (not moving). I assume I see the screen saver because that comes on before the Mac goes to sleep. Anyway, it's a static display, and despite being able to move my mouse around on screen, the screen saver image never disappears and I can't do anything.

I don't remember having any problems like this with my old vid card. However, my apartment was in the low 90's this weekend, which is warmer than it has been this year. I should also note that this doesn't happen all the time, but the majority of the time this weekend.

Except for waking up from sleep, I have seen no other problems with anything.

Any ideas on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

(Of course, the easiest solution would be to have it not go to sleep at all, but I'd like to have it work normally :) )
