Browsing through some IT-news websites I came over this link:

http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/internet/2004/0410251248.asp?A=VIR&S=Virus Watch&O=FPT

The article states that a new virus for OS X has been found, and that the virus will open up the OS X firewall, create a new admin account and purge for usernames and passwords. I haven't read the story on any other Mac related news sites, so I was a bit sceptical a first. Then I discovered that the firm who has found the virus is called Sophos (http://www.sophos.com/), the same company that makes a little-known anitvirus software for OS X. I'm also sceptic to all the things this virus potentially can do. Doesn't turning of the firewall and adding new accounts require the user to manually type in his/hers admin username and password? Can someone help me shed some light on this issue? Is this "virus" a hoax form a little-known wannabe important company in South Africa, or is this virus real???
