New vs Refurb

Which would you guys recommend? Ill be using it for office and general surfing as well as my primary travel computer.

2016 base @ 1249

or

2015 refurb 1.2 512GB @ 1189

If an Apple refurb met my needs I wouldn't hesitate a moment. Every refurb I've bought from Apple has been indistinguishable from brand new other than the box it was in.

But you're changing horses mid stream there... Do you need the extra 256GB storage or would it be a waste?

I don't have an immediate need for the extra space, but as we know having it available is nice.

Then your better comparison the the 2016 m5/512GB at $1599 vs the 2015 refurb 1.2/512 at $1189... I'd say for the needs you describe it's pretty much a no-brainer to go with the refurb. You can return if it not happy, and you get the same warranty as new with the same ability to add AppleCare if that's important to you.
