When are the new Apple Watches showing up in the Apple Stores to look at on display?

Expect to see it in stores only on the launch day, i.e. September 20th

NP. Are you looking forward to see black titanium Ultra 2 and thr titanium replacing SS Apple Watches?
To be honest I am not sure what direction I am going hence wanting to see them in person. I currently have a 6 that is struggling to make it through a day on a single charge. Price point wise the Ultra’s have always been double the regular watches. Once you start me make it a cellular version then that gap really starts to close. If you do titanium then they are basically the same price. I have a feeling the Ultra 2 is going to be too big on my wrist. Then that leaves me with the 10. Trying to decide if I should go cellular this time around. Also wondering if the titanium is worth the jump for durability. I have lots of scratches on my current 6 from being bumped around. What are your thoughts on the titanium?

What model and size Apple Watch Series 6 do you have? I have a gold SS and do bump it sometimes, but it never suffered a scratch on the screen nor the case. I never used a case on it as it gets dirty easily.

If they have PVD or DLC coating on titanium polished S10, it would be harder to scratch. The sapphire screen will be the same on polished titanium models.

It’s the black aluminum 44mm (Nike). The right side with the crown has seemed to take the worst of it. Battery health is below 80% now too.

My first 2 watches were the Aluminum, then got my first SS in Series 4, have not gone back to Aluminum, well worth the spend for me. Plus I do not even use the Cellular. I always have my phone with me, would never go without so no reason to pay monthly for cellular. Verizon already makes enough money from me. I had Cellular for one year on my first SS and stopped it saying never again.

I am kind of torn on the cellular too. I have my phone with me 90% of the time so not sure I see the value it adds. If someone think’s opposite please convince me. Verizon wants $10 per month extra per watch to add to our current plan. The issue is the titanium watch and the Ultra only come in cellular. I guess I could get it and just not use the cellular. Thoughts?

Just because it has cellular availability does not mean you need to add it to your phone plan. Verizon has no idea I have had my last two watches. I look at all the money I have saved over the last several years, it pays for a new watch 😂

Keep in mind that you don't have to activate the cellular on the watch, and even if unactivated you can still use it to make emergency calls in many countries.

And in an unfortunate turn of events, I lost my phone last night while out. But I was able to use the watch to lock the phone as soon as I noticed that it was gone. I could of course still make phone calls etc., from the watch. My employer pays for the watch plan so if it was my money I wouldn't bother I don't think. But last night I was glad it was active.

Although I very rarely use it, I think the cellular is worth paying for at the $10-$15/month most providers charge. If I'm ever separated from my phone on purpose (left it at home when I go to the gym, for a run, etc.) or otherwise (theft, loss, damage), I can still make calls/texts, put my phone in Lost Mode, track it with Find My, use Apple Pay, access my home security system, etc. To me it's both a security blanket and a matter of convenience.

Any ideas on why Apple forces you into cellular with the titanium 10 and ultra series? Is it just an extra money maker they know they can get?

They don't force you into anything. It's a premium watch, and they included the cellular at that price instead of having two models and charging extra for it like they do on the regular Apple Watches.

You're not locked into using the cellular, you don't have to activate it.

had cellular enabled AWs for 5 or 6 years, never activated it. I remember 1 (yes, 1 or one) single time that I left my iPhone behind when leaving the house, to go to the grocery store. I always play music from the iPhone via CarPlay and music started but then quit, didn't bother to turn around when I noticed (like 2 blocks away) as it was only a short trip.
it's a good thing its optional ;)

That Apple Watch must have been in lots of adventures. My old Apple Watch Series 1 was in space gray like that, as a 38mm and it had a tiny dent, but most scratches happened on the front glass. The old Apple Watch does not have battery health as it stopped at watchOS 6, but yes the charge hold is less than 80% as well.

Biggest scuff I ever seen on an aluminum Apple Watch. Do not get jet black aluminum, it will be subject to micro abrasions like the iPhone 7 in that color before.

All non-aluminum Apple Watch like titanium, ceramic and stainless steel need cellular service capability as these are higher cost models. If you would buy a car that is a higher trim level and you are paying more for it, they would have to add premium optional features as a standard on it. The same analogy applies to Apple Watch; an Apple Watch in stainless steel and titanium are couple hundreds of dollars to a grand or two so it would be worth it if cellular comes standard on it.

I own a stainless steel gold Apple Watch, and I don’t set up cellular on it because I keep my iPhone with me almost every day. It would only be good if an iPhone user habitually forgets to bring their iPhone with them and need to use Apple Watch for things that require an internet connection. Even it costs an extra line to set up with your carrier to connect it to cellular, so only if you tend to lose your iPhone a lot or if you happen to be in a situation where you cannot take your iPhone with you (like certain workplaces or schools with strict phone rules)

This reminds me, the other day, two of my friends went for a drive, and they stopped to use the bathroom at a rest stop. One finished first and was waiting for the other at the car, when he got a text from her saying she's locked inside the bathroom and can't get out! She'd left her phone in the car, but had a cellular Apple watch on her. The friend who was outside found a rest stop employee to get her out. Good thing she had her watch, or who knows how long he would have waited before going to check on her? 😜

Another reason to get cellular on your Apple Watch ⌚️. It can also help users if they also wear their Apple Watch in the shower and accidentally slip and fall in there- many users were also rescued from these situations since the fall detection feature came in the Apple Watch Series 4. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/apple-watch-lifesaving-health-features-read-5-peoples-stories/
