I’ve just opened my new series 6.

Should I use the battery immediately, run it down and then give it a full recharge? Or, should I charge it straight away when out of box?

Is there a correct procedure here to protect the longevity of the battery?

Thank you

I just unboxed mine yesterday and it had well over 70% battery. I completed the setup and added my Apple Pay cards, etc., and still had over 70% free. Of course, for the watchOS update, you need it on the charger anyways.

Do the exact opposite and avoid fully discharging the Apple Watch. This tends to degrade the battery over time. Keeping it at 100% likewise isn't ideal, but can't be avoided. On your AW, check Settings > Battery > Battery Health that Optimized Battery Charging is activated, which delays the full charge until you typically need it. Battery calibration is not an issue IMO.
