Don’t call my crazy, but I’m considering implementing a new personal routine of charging the watch to 80 percent or so in the evening before bed and shutting it off until the morning. Not sure if it will make much of a difference in the long, but it seems keeping these type of batteries between 20 & 80 percent reduces deep charge cycles and extends overall performance.

Coming from a 42mm that I recently attempted to replace a cracked screen. That did not work out too well… lol

I wouldn’t worry too much..I just upgraded to the ultra this month from an Apple Watch series 0 and that still lasted me a full day after charging overnight every night for the past 8 years.

The Ultra (and unique to the Ultra I think) already has an Optimised Charging limit which does the same. Have a look under Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

The problem for me is that there is no routine for it to learn. I wear it at night and i put it on the fast charger when it gets low every few days, and that might be any time of day or night.

It worked only once for me. I had to charge it fully once and it never learned that pattern again. How hard it is to have an option to stop charging beyond the preferred percentage?

Works great for me. Stops charging every night at 80%. It’s pretty smart and resumes 100% charging if there is an upcoming flight on my calendar or my flight app for the next day. I’ve been impressed.
