New Wii Update

Anybody else see the new Wii update today? Heres the letter i got:

"This update will prevent your Wii console from locking up, which can occur when using the Internet Channel if you press RESET on either your Wii console or within the HOME menu. This update also corrects some Internet connection stability issues when using the Wii LAN adaptor from Nintendo."

Ive never heard of that problem before...Is it that common that they decided to release an update? Or is this some ploit to brick every modded console?

UPDATE: I bravely decided to update my modded Wii, and it went through without a hitch.

Actually I got two updates in two days, the second seemed to do almost nothing though.

wow really...ive been playing my wii every day for the past few weeks, and ive even had wiiconnect24 on for a few hours and no notification came up. very strange.
