New window opens - help

for some reason, when I want to go through my hard drive to my pictures folder...I have to go through 5 folders or so to get there, but it always opens new windows. It wasnt always like it. Before, if I want to go deeper into my hard drive, it would all be in one window. How do I change it back to what it was like?

hahaha never mind, got it!

I had to click that button on the top right of the window

go to finder -> Settings.
