Yes, you should download and run tinyumbrella right away though.

If Apple were to stop signing (am I saying that right?) 4.2.1 before I am able to get home tonight and run tiny umbrella will I still be able to JB with 4.2.1?
One more question. Can any 3GS be jailbroken now with the latest PwnageTool?
Only if its not updated to the latest 4.3 that came out yesterday.
Anything before that you can JB a 3GS untethered with pwnage or green poison depending on the firmware its on.
When I run TU to back up the SHSH, how will I know if Apple has stopped signing 4.2.1, will TU notify me?
Yes, firmware is the Ios version.
TU will display what shsh's saved for you.
It will be 4.3 and if it can get 4.2.1 it will be listed there also.
No, it wont give you a choice.
You will connect your iphone to your computer, run TU and just press the button that says "Save SHSH" and it will save all available blobs for you.
You just click that button and wait till the progress bar is over.
Very simple.
Yes.So as long as it shows 4.2.1 as one of the saved SHSH, I'll be able to restore to 4.2.1 if needed after I jailbreak?
TU showed SHSHs saved all the way back to 4.0. Does that mean I probably ran TU in the past (when still running 4.0 on my iPhone)?
Can I get in on this..I'm new at the jb thing. I jailbroke with greenpoison with the ios 4.2.1 so am I reading the thread correct that if I didn't do anything special during the jb process, I can't go to any ios earlier than that? Also when I restore, update to 4.3 then re-jb, I can no longer go back to 4.2.1 in the future? And the shsh stuff confuses me. Iphone 4 btw.
Okay i just went to that link above and ran it on my windows cpu...got a box that is empty so how do I populate it with info (blogs)? I see a box that says "Start TSS Server." But keep in mind that my phone is turned on right now in it's regular mode. not turned off or anything. It is however, hooked up to the usb cable.
Plug in your phone, run TU and click "Save SHSH".
That's all.

Okay I see that option but it's grey'd out. under "edit" in the left column it shows "show all shsh's" and my phone is recognized as being connected but that save box is grey'd out. the other box, however, "Start TSS Server" option is available for some reason.
