Any advice please to a potential newbie on whether or not the watch (eg SE I am considering) is useful if I am NOT into health and fitness. Would it just be a satellite of my iPhone which I carry anyway or does it have other uses?

Has anyone started in similar manner (like reminders etc) but then started to use the health features? I presume I need a trip to the Apple Store for info and a demo but would like to hear any views, positive or otherwise, thanks.

I purchased my SE in September 2022, as a step up from my Fitbit. Fair to say that I am into health and fitness.
But if that weren't the case, I would probably not wear a watch at all (Apple or other).

The best advice I can give you is to try it yourself for a few days. You have a return policy if you buy at an Apple Store.

Many people are not using the fitness capabilities and it’s okay. Personally it helped me to start my journey into doing long walks. You might want to consider a S9, instead.

It's a smartwatch with fitness features. If the fitness features don't make sense for you then maybe the smartwatch features do?

Best bet is to spend a bit of time on Apple's website, look at he features, and see if you think they're worthwhile. We can't tell you if features are worthwhile to you :D
