newbie here....how do i overide programme....

so that i can shut down computer.....i am stuck open on a programme i cannot close,and i cannot shut down computer.how do i shut down... thanks....

Press and hold the power button until it shuts down (5-10 seconds).
You can also use Command-Option-Esc and force quit the application.

Or press Command-Option-Escape which will show a list of running programs. Click on the program that is giving you trouble and then click the "Force Quit" button.
