newbie here, how is 2.0ghz quad better than 2.3ghz?

I'm just a little confused on how processors work and how 2.0ghz is good and 2.4 or 2.66 is being replaced with lower ghz, any guides to learn how these work?

Because they are quads, look at imac cpus, same there

quads means you have 4 cores, to dumbify it, you have 4 cpus running at 2,2ghz, instead of 2 cpus running at 2.6 ghz
