Hello - I'm very new here and not super computer savvy. In any event, I just got a QPS 160 GB fire wire hard drive which won't mount when I plug it in. I'm on an older imac but am running 10.2.3. Any suggestions? It will also not show up in the system profiler (neither will my QPS CDRW and I've had it for years).

Thanks for any info.
KC

There have been a number of issues with Apple's Firewire drivers and 3rd party FW drive makers. Each blames the other. There is a reasonably good chance that 10.3 would solve your problem (specifically, 10.3.6, the latest version). Do you live anywhere near an Apple Store? Perhaps a Genius there could help you. Also, QPS might have 10.2 drivers that would work better. Sorry, I'm not a FW guru, but I'm aware that there have been issues with it and OS X and that 10.3 has made progress in fixing many of those issues (but not all of them).
