heya!

I have used Macs occasionally and recreationally for a while, but I am not a serious addict. I have bought a new MBP with the intention of fully moving over, and I am transitioning now. I have hit a few road blocks, and been able to solve most. But my biggest problem is using the MBP in clam mode.

I have the MBP closed, and I have an Anker 12-1 Thunderbolt 4 hooked in. This has two HDMI outs, and I have EACH of those hooked to a separate 24" 4K display. Both show images.... the SAME image though!

OK, so I know I SHOULD be able to go into "Display" and there SHOULD be tabs across the top, from which I choose what monitor goes where and all. But I do NOT get those tabs.... I just get a screen that shows my mac on the left and a choice for picking resolution (that effects BOTH monitors the same). And as I am writing this, I was going in to grab a screen shot to post here, and I get an error message (Could not load Displays preferences pane).

Any ideas what I can do?

Two other proglems I have, if you care to address them too:

1) How can I transfer my (Windows) iTunes library to the is new system? No more iTines! :(

2) I SERIOUSLY underbought storage on this. I only got a TB, and I think I need 2, which means I probably should have 4. Is this something that Apple will work with me on? Who should I contact?

If the MBP is the 13” M1 and not the newer M1 Pro or M1 Max then you are limited to only a single external monitor. If you need more then you need a 14” or 16” MBP.

It is a 16" M1 Max....

As I said, the option to configure multiple monitors is NOT showing, so it does not see the two minitors....

Did you try to connect one display to your hub’s HDMI port and the other directly to your MacBook?
Or does this also doesn’t work?

FWIW, I am online with Apple Tech Support. There seems to be a real problem in my MBP..... so it is not a quick fix. I am sending them system reports and all right now. WIll keep you updated...

From tier one tech support:

I also checked a situation and it seems this issue may need a ticket escalated to our engineering team. We will schedule a callback with our phone support team so you have a dedicated advisor who will work with you throughout the escalation process. They will gather some logs from your device and a diagnostic. Then, they will escalate this to our engineers who will investigate this further
