hello.

back in December my uncle got me this macbook pro for christmas and it's the 1st mac i've ever owned. i have a few questions.

1. it says it's a 500.28GB APPLE harddrive
- Macintosh HD 250GB

where is the other 250GB?

Is the other half on unpartitioned space?

how do i make the whole 500GB on the Macintosh HD partition

Macbook Pro Retina 15" Late 2013

If you go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and then in the left pane of that new window click on the top item (your hard drive) and then go to the Partitions tab in the right pane - what is shown there?
Or you could post a screenshot of that window in your reply.

here's a screenshot

Yes your hard drive is approx 500GB.
From that same screen if you place your pointer at the bottom right corner of the "Macintosh HD" partition and click then drag that bit down to the bottom of the box you can extend your Mac's partition to the full size.

Once that's done click on "Apply" near the bottom right of that window and wait for it to finish - noting any comments/errors it may give.
