newbie question...iPhone just for iPod/internet?

going to buy an iPhone from a friend...i will not use it as a phone though...it will replace my OLD OLD iPod...do i need a sim Card to use the iPhone as an iPod and for internet only?

You'll have to hacktivate it if you don't have a SIM card. depending on the iPhone model and the OS version installed this ranges from pretty simple to impossible.

Don't ask. You can use Google just as well as I can.

Why not just buy an older iPod Touch?
