Hi guys. I just converted a 20-minute VHS video to DV using an ADVC100 converter in iMovie, which it exported as a 3.7GB .dv file.

1) I'd like to start watching using my DVD player. Is it just a matter of burning the dv file straight to blank DVD-R disc?

2) Should I compress the file first before burning? If so, how do I do it? Any special settings? I'm using iMovie '08.

Thanks!

You will need to use something like iDVD to create a proper DVD from your iMovie project. If you use the "Magic iDVD" feature of iDVD, you can easily drag the project over and hit a button, which will transcode the DV file and burn it onto a disc.
