So I have decided to make the switch and buy a MBP.

Im pretty basic in my needs at the moment. All I do is mainly surf the web, download music, and some movies. Planning on learning how to edit/create short videos from my vacation travels ect.

I really like the 13' do to its portability. But im hesitant on paying that much money for the old tech.

What do you guys recommend for me?

Thanks

Wait until after WWDC next Monday. IF nothing is released then go with the 13" MBP It will serve you well.

I doubt you will see a refresh of the MBP this year. Intel isn't going to release their next processor till late this year, meaning Apple should have it in their MBP next quarter of 2012. Since WWDC is next week, might as well wait to see if anything is announced. Highly unlikely, but it's possible.

Wait for WWDC there might be a new MacBook Air then you can get the 13"

If I go with the 13' I def want to get the anit-glare, but would I need to update any hardware or is the base adequate?

There is no anti glare for MacBook, 13" MacBook Pro or 13" MacBook Air. You can only get anti-glare on 15" and 17" MacBook Pro.

I'd say wait for a potential MacBook Air refresh at WWDC (5 days time).

Im not talking about the MB, I dont like the all white and just overall design.

Not interested in the MB Air bc it doesnt have the CD/DVD drive right?

Someone told me to add the SSD as it will make it considerably faster and boost performance.....

Ok... There's still no anti-glare for 13" MBP :p

Correct.

How noticeable the performance increase is will depend on what you do with the machine.

You can buy a Refub Macbook pro 13
they are cheap and are like new
I bought one and no issues

do some research before you post. Antiglare only comes on 15 and 17 with the hi-res upgrade. For your needs and judging by your questions a 13 base would be your best option. You seem to be worried about price so an ssd is probably out of your budget (120 gb harddrives start at over $200) considering your already saying that a 13in is too much you seemed to have already made up your mind before you got in here.

In regards to the tech, the technology currently in the Macbook Pros are fairly recent and high up there. All Pros have Sandy Bridge CPUs and many other computer manufactures have those CPUs in there computers too. If your talking about the Airs, then yes they have old tech. But that is gonna be updated in the very near future.

Price isnt my primary concern. Value for my needs is. I have no prob adding the SSD for 200 if it will give my MBP a significant boost and maybe increase its longevity.

Decided to get the base 13' get the add ons from amazon ect.

things to get from amazon inlcude

xtra 4GB to make it 8

i7

SSD

How much would all those cost online?

All this should go well above my needs. but ill be a happy camper
