I would be very grateful to those Mac experts out there for an opinion on the following (running MacBook Air 13" mid 2012, 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM).

A.
When I run Parallels and Windows 10, I close off any other open applications (safari, iTunes etc.) upon which my memory use tends to peak out at between 3.4-3.5GB of the 4GB available on my Macbook Air. Is this leaving enough capacity for the Macbook to be efficient without placing undue pressure on it? It seems to be working fine with little to no noticeable slowness.

B.
If I installed a new SSD into this machine (currently 128GB), would this assist the performance of the machine - and in turn the memory when running Parallels?

C.
This laptop has been great however I am looking to upgrade at some stage. Assuming my usage remains much the same could I assume an 8GB memory would be more than ample to allow for future usage. Is the new Macbook going to offer me a similar performance to the MBA? Although I have a Thunderbolt display so that would be an issue anyway as I don't think the new 12" MB currently connects?
