Hello Everybody:

I've always been a PC user and I recently got a Dell (120gb, 512ram, Pent.4). But just today I notice the MAC and I thought to myself I should've done more research. So I'm ask what is there to now about the Apple computers?

Well, while I don't care, some people might get upset that you call it a MAC. It's a "Mac", short for "Macintosh". Just warning you.... ;)

Anyway, here's a summary of Macs:

(1) They're generally more expensive upfront for a given amount of power.
(2) They don't run Windows applications.
(3) You need to resize the windows from one corner, instead of from any edge/corner as with Windows.

That's about it for negatives. For positives:

(1) Most would say they look better.
(2) They retain value far, far, far better than PCs.
(3) The software included with purchase is ideal for any music, photo, or video lover and more than justifies any price premium.
(4) No viruses!
(5) Very wonderful OS. OS X ("O-S Ten" although it looks like "O-S-X") is amazing - truly enjoyable to use.
(6) Easier installation - usually just drag one file to a folder, and app will run.
(7) No DLL files!
(8) Built-in printing of anything to PDF format.

And many more....

Feel free to post more for, or PM me (click on 'jsw' to the left and send me a private message). I use Windows at work. I play with Macs at home. Familiar with both, I prefer Macs by far.

that's a mind-bogglingly broad question.[/url]

Very true. There are many, many people here who would love to answer your questions.

I would suggest the following:
1) Use the Search function to find threads similar to your needs.
2) Narrow down your request for information to specific topics, and post specific threads based on them (or one large thread with your topics broken down)
3) Get yourself to an
Apple Retail Store to try them out for yourself, in-person!

Hope this helps!

Right on! Power to the people (who don't share libraries and if they do, they don't overwrite those used by other apps, thereby rendering those other apps junked)!
