I'm pretty much set on grabbing this wireless charger. It says it supports 10W charging with compatible devices.
  • Fast Charge Mode compatible devices include: Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+ / S8 / S8+/ S7 / S7 edge / S6 edge+, and Note 5.
  • Quick Charge 3.0 wall adapter required for Fast Charge Mode.

I just have a few questions.

Is "Fast Charge Mode" an Android term?

If I use a 12W iPad adapter, will I technically be able to take advantage of up to 10W charging speeds if my device can handle it?

I want to wireless charge an iPhone XS as quick as possible. Would that work with this 10W wireless pad + 12W iPad adapter?

If you are making the purchase today, I personally recommend spending $10 more for Anker PowerWave 7.5 Pad (despite the name, it is 10W charger), which is on Amazon's Deal of the Day ($31.99, from $45.99 discounted price prior to the deal).

Styles are subjective, so I will let you make that call. But I prefer this charger for several reasons:
  • Unlike the cheaper model, it comes with a QuickCharge 3.0 USB power adapter, which is necessary to get 10W output (not yet supported by any Apple products).
  • Better cooling system.
  • More subtle charging indicator light.
  • Better charging surface.
To answer your question, QuickCharge and Fast Charge mean the same thing. Most Android phones use QualComm's processor that has QC support.

Apple, including the newest iPhone XS and XR series, are still limited to 7.5W charging. You won't able able to charge them at 10W or 15W charging speed even if the charger is capable. Just the same, if you want to future proof your purchase, get a 10W charger.

Most wireless chargers need QC 3.0 adapter for faster charging (even 7.5W), hence my recommendation to spend $10 more.

Thanks for your post, it was super helpful. I'm getting the charger you linked because 1. It's Anker 2. It's on sale 3. It comes with the QC 3.0 adapter. 4. Cooling is a bonus

So the 12W iPad adapter wouldn't work for fast wireless charging even though it's 12W? All these Watts and Amps outputs and inputs are giving me a headache.
