Greetings everyone,

I'm in the process of obtaining (my first) a new G5 direct from Apple. I'll be doing video editing on it with FCP and need photshop on it for graphics and photo touch-ups.

I don't need the newest version but, what are the issues with running older versions of photoshop on OS X? (Say Photoshop 5.5 and later).

I've had a friend tell me that my best bet is to go with Photoshop 7 but it's a little high for my price range after the G5 purchase and I'm using 5.5 on my PC and it serves me just fine. I'd prefer purchasing a later version if possible.

Thanks

You will need Photoshop 7 at least if you want to run it in Native OS X and not in classic. I would recomend upgrading to CS, since CS is optimized for the G5. You can call Adobe and say that you are switching from PC to Mac and they will probably give you an upgrade price for CS, even if you version is windows. I would not recomend running PS in classic.
