Hi everyone

Im a newbie after some advice on which MBP tp buy..

I will mainly use it for surfing,iTunes ,storing photos and hopefully down loading film via handbrake and eventually streaming to apple tv. Oh forgot to add will also be watching tv on it from time to time.

Do I really stretch myself and get a basic 15" 2.0ghz or a 13" dual core i7?.

Any help would be much appreciated as don't know what to do plus missus is on my case!!

Thanks

2 answers :

1. if you have the money get highest end MBP because everything else would be irrelevant.

2. if you want to be practical:
  • refurbs are a good way to save money
  • macbook pro 13" i5 is a good way to save some cash and upgrade the rams and harddrive if necessary
  • macbook is something to look at if you don't have a microcenter close by.

Baseline 13" will be good enough for you, the i7 for the 13" is not worth the money

I'm doing what you want to do (except for watching TV) with the early 2011 13" MBP i5, upgraded to 500gb hard drive. It's just fine for this.

Do look at eBay. Prices are cheaper. I got a new high-end 2011 15" MacBook Pro for only $1815. Even cheaper than the low-end 15" if it came from Apple. And of course, no tax.
