Hey everyone,

I was just looking at newegg.com for prices on memory and they have multiple brands of 2gigs for about $50... is that right? Last I remember it was about 200 dollars...

Also, how do you tell if the ram is right for you? Some say for "Macbook Pro/ iMac... but what about the ones that just say for "Apple notebooks". are they compatible with Macbooks?

And finally, what companies have a good reputation with memory?

Thanks

There are a lot of threads already dealing with these issues, and they really helped me. Might benefit from the search function at this junction.

And yes the price has come down. I just bought 4GB for 70$.
I recommend dealmac.com for good deals.

NewEgg is awesome if you've never ordered from them.

I ordered 4GB of Corsair memory for my MacBook - the free ground shipping arrived in a day since it came out of New Jersey :)

You don't need Apple or Mac specific memory. Was it $50 for 1x2g stick? That seems about right.

Check out www.ncix.com. I got 2 1gb sticks for my laptop for $14 each.

Thanks for the guide, it was really helpful!

What's the max amount of ram a core duo macbook can take? I'd really like to go above 2 gigs if at all possible..
