Newer Mac Mini :: GMail triggering remote control

Bought a Mini a couple months ago and use it in my recording studio, which has a remote control fan switch. Whenever I click over to GMail (on Firefox), it triggers the fan. I checked "Disable Infrared Remote Control Receiver" in Sys Pref > Security, and it didn't help. I've scoured GMail's settings and found nothing.

Any ideas?
