I've been getting really into Geektool and scripting shells for my desktop the last few weeks but one thing that has been baffling me is the idea of a news feeds on your desktop. I've seen a few scripts for some crappy Yahoo! news feed, as well as one for Facebook status updates, but nothing that has been too appealing.

My question is whether or not anyone has seen, or has the ability to create a script that would make it possible to have a news feed (such as Digg) show up the latest articles titles on their desktop?

Wouldn't be too hard with python. I've written two different scripts based off the same base for two different people over in the "Your Geektool scripts" thread. (here and here)
