Hello all,

I'm working on a website for a personal project and I was looking for some help/input. I've got almost everything done which so far has been easy because I'm building the site from this template and modifying it to fit my needs. http://html5up.net/arcana

Where I'm running into trouble is this: I want to have a (mostly) static homepage, but I want to have a newsfeed/blog section in the center where recent posts show up. I'd also like to be able to look at the archives and even search if possible, but those are secondary issues. I'd also like for the posts to have the ability to show up in Google searches as well.

Is there any software out there that will do what I'd like, or at least come close to it? I know WordPress is the most recommended solution, but I've already got most everything done and it certainly isn't in a WP theme.

Any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

You might wanna have a look at a static site generator like http://jekyllrb.com, outputs plain HTML and let's you write your blog posts in Markdown or HTML. I'm using it for my own site and it's pretty good. There's a lot of information about plugins, which are written in Ruby, and whatever else. Check the plugin section on their page for the search and archive section of your site.
