Newton MessagePad 2100: Mac Connection

Hi, I was recently given an Apple Newton MessagePad 2100. I was wondering if there was any way I could connect this PDA to my Mac. (iMac Intel OS X 10.5). I know there is a serial cable I can purchase for the MessagePad as well as a serial-to-USB adapter. However, I'm concerned with the software compatibility. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For software I know of Newten for Mac OS X compatibility, although it hasn't been updated in a while so it may or may not work with Leopard.
