Next gen intel ssd?

Hey I'm wanting to get the intel mlc 160GB g2 ssd, but
I'm wondering when the g3 might come out?

Does anyone know? Did intel just release the g2?, so is it
gunna be like a year, six months?

Nothing makes me think there is one coming soon, but I didn't know if the G2 was just released, or released 6 months ago or so. I can see one coming out in 12 months at least.

So I wanted to ask to make sure I didn't buy the G2 and then the G3 comes out.

Well I don't usually revive dead topics but this one makes sense.
I'm thinking just now about getting a G2 Intel SSD and wondering if I should wait...

What do you guys think? Will the G3 be out soon (e.g. in the next 3 months)

Next-gen Intel SSD's won't be out until the fourth quarter of this year.
 
I am guessing that Intel's G3 SSD drives won't be huge increases correct? We might see maybe a 256 GB, possibly a 320 GB? No room for a 500 GB at a reasonable cost (i.e. under 1k)?

Thoughts?
 
The current gen are great performers, if you are looking for an SSD I don't really see a compelling reason to wait.
 
Ive got a really good source on these, and he says they already have 300+ GB g3 drives, but they're just beginning to appear. He says they arent stable at all at the moment and they should appear next year.

He also says they should be up to 600gb

btw does anyone know anything about FW 02J7 on a G2 drive?
 
Should be every year(around Summer), I don't expect it will be faster and G1 (Dell 9400 Core Duo)&G2(MBP 13" Unibody 09) are very very stable from my own experience.


I would like to see G3 cut ~50% price like from G1->G2, so it will make more sense for me to put a $2xx 160GB HDD upgrade for my ~1k laptop. :)
