Hey there,

Everytime I browse the App store, I kind of feel sorry for all those 2G users everytime I see "this app is only compatible with the iPhone 3G".

SO - whats up with the next gen hardware for the iPhone? Will it be so much faster than the previous ones - that new snappy apps can only run on the new phone?

What do you think? And what do you expect from the 3.0?

Whoa, what? I have a 2G and I've never encountered an app that said it was 3G only  I don't even see why it would be 3G only.

yeah i dont see why it would say 3g only? ..

apps that use location service can be used on the 1st gen iphone just fine (twinkle, zintin, MAPS)

so...

and i think it's a bit early to have worries of a 3.0 until something more solid comes to surface about it :p

Some apps require real GPS to function (like the ones that tell you how fast you are driving.)

The GPS apps are really the only ones. I don't believe I'm missing anything.

Of course, I don't have a phone plan, much less a data plan, so I don't really know how it would feel to be able to tell where you are wherever you are.

Isn't it more likely to be 'will only run on an iPhone rather than an iPod Touch?'

Well, if the rumors are true about the next iPhone, then it is a no brainer.

There will absolutely be apps that will not work on 2G or 3G iPhones.

IF said apps are programmed and designed to take advantage of the new processor and speed.

I doubt a third Gen iPhone would be that different CPU-wise from the other two. What we kinda know is that 3.0 could be compatible with quad-core platforms, it doesn't mean, in my opinion, the 3rd gen would be a quad-core, maybe there will be a tablet, or even another ultraportable, which I doubt, but who knows, maybe something really new.
