There are monitors now that can send power and provide Display via 1 USB-c connector. The next iteration of the Mini should just get rid of the internal power supply and just have an extra USB-c that can provide power input and video. Then its just one power cable and a Monitor like a dell U3219Q can power the Mini and provide video in 1 cable.

What if my monitor doesn't support charging in that fashion? What if I don't want an external power brick?

Also, it should be noted that the power supply inside the current mini (as well as pretty much every Mac mini with this body style going all the way back to the 2010 versions) is really small and doesn't take up much space.

I do agree that the mini is due for a refresh, especially given all the wasted space in the M1 mini's chassis. It honestly reminds me of the PowerPC to Intel DTK PowerMac enclosure (where there was all of this space for the G5, but this tiny Intel motherboard with a Pentium 4 taking up hardly any of it).
