So it looks like this time around Apple is going AMD since the Imac got it. What version AMD do you guys think they'll put?

That is some warped logic. AMD GPUs are cheaper for the performance but Nvidia with Maxwell is more power efficient. On the desktop power isn't such a concern but on notebooks it is everything. If there is a dGPU, it will almost certainly be Nvidia.
Apple already did one CPU refresh without refreshing the GPU from 750M to 850M (which was available by that time). They should have but didn't which I think suggests that they intend to drop the dGPU completely. The next Iris Pro will be faster than a 750M and people will complain less if they beat the last generation MBP in performance. Intel would not beat an 850M and there would be much more complaints if they dropped the dGPU in regressed in performance essentially.
They have probably a marketing department checking out all possibilities and prototypes for both cases, but they seem to want to keep that option open.

If the dGPU survives, by the time the new MBP comes out a 20nm Maxwell 950M will be available. AMD has not announced anything that looks like it will beat Maxwells architecture in power efficiency.
