nice detail in Leopard

When you adjust QuickTime to the screen (command + 3) and your dock is placed on the left or right side of the screen QuickTime leaves a little gap between the window and the edge of the screen where the dock is located.

Was that the case in Tiger?

how is this a "nice detail"? don't you want to use every pixel on your screen?
