In my own little world
I just started thinking of getting a thin inexpensive case for my 2011 13" MBP, any recommendations?

I want something to cover the whole thing, just to protect against scratches. I probably want a clear one, and I need it to fit over my vinyl sticker on the front, but I don't think that will be a problem.

I would also like a keyboard cover, again something preferably clear, or close to it.

Something easy to clean would be nice, so probably smooth plastic for the case.

There are many threads for this, but I thought if I posted my own I might get some recommendations better suited for what I want.

The combination of the two products should also be less than $50.

recommend bestskinsever.com instead of zagg.

I was looking for something more like a hard-shell case, I'm always too paranoid about getting a skin and putting it on wrong, then if I take it off there is a bunch of dirt on the sticky side. >_<

i guess the speck case, it looks kind of bad though, doesn't line up correctly in some places.

i'd just use your mbp nekkid.

I have a Speck clear case on my 15" and feel far more happy with it on!

I removed and cleaned the case again today for the second time (2 months from new) and use the MBP bare but didn't like it, maybe it's OCD!!!

Speck now back on with Moshi keyboard cover and trackpad/palm rests protectors, I need to get out more

i did a lot of research on hardcases...

i ended up buying the incase perforated for the mbp 15 inch.

returned it in the end because it was a bitch to put on and i almost effed up my new mbp.

but i've heard a lot of people loving the hardcases...

if i had to recommend something it would be the incase perforated.

I had something like that for my iPod 2G, I liked it. Problem is the incase perforated are $60 just for the case. :/

Hardshell cases usually run from $50-$50 for the good ones.

I would personally go with a phantomskinz since they are running promos all the time like the buy 1 get 2 deal and sometimes they do 50% off a full body skin. Their skins look and feel good because you can get the matte one and they mimic the laptop feel so well.

I wouldn't go to work without my Speck case, I have to set it down on some strange places...

And while the Speck has some scratches on the bottom my MBP has none :D

I don't know of any problems with the fit either, mine is fine. I also use an OWC black keyboard cover and like that also.

just go naked, this isn't a museum piece, it's a computer that you'll eventually replace in 3 years or so...enjoy it while you have it.

Mine gets set on all kinds of "tables". Running machines, oil drums, all depends on the site I am at. I have to show the customer results of testing and with the $30 Speck I don't care. I wouldn't do this with any naked computer, let alone an aluminum one.

well I'd say you and your situation would be an exception to what I believe... joe six pack doesn't really need one.
