iPhone 11 Pro Night time photos not working?

Hello, yesterday I recieved my pro max, and one of the features I was excited the most were those night time pictures. However, I tried to take a picture at night with no lights at all, the result is just a plain black image with dots all over. Tried both holding with my hand and having it holding still against the wall ( with 10s and 28s exposure time ). When I got outside it seemed to work better, but not as good as I've seen on posts from this forum.

Is anyone having this issue? Phone's updated to the latest release.

There’s meant to be some light for it to work, not pitch black.

The camera does not have night vision (that would be IR)...as noted above, it needs some light to function.

It's definately an error. I took 20 pictures with max exposure time of the same room. 18 are just plain black and the other 2 are perfectly fine and look amazing. I'm just hoping it's software related...

And ofc I know it's not night vision lmao. I'm just wondering if anyone's having this issue or if it's just me and I should ask for a replacement.
